Normally, I always send the Thank you note addressing the recruiter right after my interview. I am under the impression that we are not directly connected to the person who interviewed until we got selected. Recruiter is the medium/ middle man to contact with them. So, never sent thank you note before to the team who interviewed me.

I agree with brothers opinion.
Its a good gesture from your side to send a thank you note, be specific what you liked in the interview and thank them for their time. Send the note right after the interview so that you don't forget.

Also you make a point how much exited you are to join them.. and rest leave it to God.

One final point I picked up from somewhere, I liked it so much and want to share here.

Recruiter says on Friday," I did not get any update on your Tuesday's interview. Please send me a 'Thank you note to the team' so that I'll pass it on and also use it as an opportunity to check the status."

Recruiters are merely middlemen, postmen,

They have no say on any recruiting.

aadu meeto matladina pay gurthu kooda undadu. The main mistake they do is they know how much the company can pay to employee before even getting resumes.

They think they can negotiate between you and others. but mostly it doesn't happen that way.

In your case I think the company might have a very low salary scale and you might have not been close to what they want so they didn't negotiate with you.

Instead picked someone in that range.

Most of the times more than skill, the money matters. I have done that during my recruitment days.

I was selected after the interview. confirmed now. hopefully nothing goes wrong due to this market.

Another experience: Actually, this was my first interview after I got laid off. The job is entirely different technologies than what I worked on before. Since I want to move into a separate line of tech, I learned Linux, Python, SQL in a real quick and changed entire resume(by keeping my names of the employer and the projects) and submitted it. Honestly, I did not alter the resume to get more salary. My idea at that time was, "Let's start a new phase in the career and move into the latest technologies.

Stage1: Recruiter interview: Went well and submitted to the hiring manager
Stage2: Three different managers with technical skills: Linux, Python, Database, cloud concepts Anni cleared(even though I got tensed because of new technology)

I got a call from the recruiter.
Recruiter: "What's your expected salary?"
Kodiboch: "I think we already discussed this before submitting my resume."
Recruiter: "let me check.yeah. I got the number, but the hiring manager wants to confirm with you. I will talk to you later."

Result: Got an email from the recruiter saying that "We are moving forward with other candidates".
I did not understand the whole process. My questions at the time were-
(1)did the hiring manager liked me or not with my technical skills?
(2)If not, why the recruiter called again and asked me about my expected salary?
(3)If yes, why they moved forward with other candidates?
(4)why did the recruiter ask about my expected pay even after we agreed upon the salary number?
(3)Where did I go wrong in the whole process?

Ravanabrahma:

At the beginning of my career, it used to be two pages. Then, everybody was going with more pages. When I was in India, one recruiter from the HR department said, "unless you have 6-7 pages, we don't even consider your resume " (about 23 years ago). Actually, 'two-page resume' was popular in the 90s. So, I started increasing the pages, and it was fine until 2006. Even in 2019, I submitted to many companies and got calls as well. Nobody cared about it.
Bottom line: Having a two-page resume with a task-based approach is the best one, but your regular resume works fine as well. We need to go with the flow of the market.

MS Office spell check sucks to the core. Anni check chesinaaka, naake 3-4 mistakes kanapdinaayi. aadi parri spell-check.
I agree with the format. That's my mistake/negligence. I added new sentences before I sent the resume and did not notice that the new sentences got different font and got pasted with varying margins.

Another mistake I was doing: Learning many technologies at one time by thinking that I am a good learner and can learn any tech without any problem. Instead, I should have focussed one skill at a time and master it9(If not master, at least need to take it to the next level).

The second one, I worked and hoping that I improved a lot is: learning one skill thoroughly. I need to see the feedback with yesterday's interview.

Resume sells you 30-40%, then the personal interview, how you present yourself.

After 10 years I too tried to change my job, but the challenge I had was doing many things in current role at that time, which was required for company, but couldn't tell what exactly I was expert in,

The company I went for interview, asked what I am expert at, I couldn't tell other than saying I can do anything that demands me to do.

I failed that interview, because they were looking for specific skill, which I was not able to tell I was good at that.

Then I went to next interview well prepared and cracked it.

Thats what happens when we go look for job after 10 years.

Absolutely, the resume should be consistent and readable.

I was a delivery head few years ago, I used to hire left and right. I did reject based on the way resume looked.

it has to be justified, not to the left or right, paragraphs neatly aligned, tabs properly placed, each company or project to be separate.

Learned the lesson in a hard way that some hiring managers are very keen on the formatting of the resume and judge you based on the appearance of it. she did not even bother reading further and rejected my resume-
The hiring manager's feedback was:

Using multiple different fonts on resume

Margins on his resume were cut off

Grammar was sloppy

Please dismiss.

I think the main gap if we work in same company for long, we will be able to manage our work, but will not be expert in any field.

The disconnect would be how to project that as a capability.
