So, a senile man with a permanent frown on his face looks seriously at something in the distance - we don't have a clue what it is though - as the camera zooms in on a particularly menacing and scary idol of Lord Ganesha - with a vaishnavite chant Govinda Govinda splitting our ear drums.

In case we have any doubts about what this movie has to offer - apart from deafness of course - this particular sequence aptly summarizes the stakes.

For a man, who is so terribly (not a poor choice of word - I mean it) influenced by Godfather, the background score is sacrilegious. Corleone saga's loudest and most effective background music had been silence. Here you yearn for a minute of silence; to absorb what is happening on the screen and desperately try to understand what is going on.

But of course, it is Ram Gopal Varma and he can't NOT assault your sense - all of them almost - simultaneously most of the times.

While lesser mortals such as Francis Coppola would depend on writing to create a sense of doom. Not RGV. He depends on his music director. Every scene, and I mean literally every scene, has a background score that borders on insanity and whether the scene demands it or not, conveys that the world is going to end. You almost believe the auditorium you are watching this hilariously bad movie would collapse under the heightened expectation of the impending danger unfolding on the screen. Or not!

For some weird reason we can't fathom yet, the film stars Jackie Shroff in an absolutely jhakhaas role that needs to be experienced first hand. I can't explain his role or what might have motivated him to accept that role. Same is the case with Rohini Hattangadi. What? You didn't realize she was in the movie? Fret not. Book your tickets for the next show and this time - arm yourself with the factory floor ear plugs.

If you are still trying to connect Nagre, Lord Ganesha and Govinda chant - you are missing a very big point. It is Ram Gopal Varma. You can't question him. You just accept his way of life and move on with yours.

I will stop hear (sic) and call my ENT doctor.
