The announcement of dikkulu is not done as per the vaidic/sastra way. In the movie he says East, West, South and North :-):-) as the Coronation is done per vaidic (as much as possible).
When the dikkulu are said there is always a procedure which is called "pradakshinam" way. It should always be East, South, West, North. That is what is been defined in and so does sugreeva does when he sends troops to Lanka and said in Sri Rudram. Could have checked for such an IMP dialogue :-):-) |

Finally, could see the movie on Friday 5th night show. Quite a good crowd considering it�s been playing/played successfully for the past 8 days.
Movie starts well with a good recap of events/introduction done in part 1 and jumps into story straight away. As the story is known to everyone by now, I will try to capture my observations as many as I can.
Movie starts with, before being crowned go around and know the people. In the process hero meets heroine. Here some comic scenes and then heroine knowing the identity of Hero. �Kiraataarjuneeyam� from Mahabharatam episode has been successfully adopted by director. Then hero gets heroine in some dramatic scenes and instead of becoming King becomes Senani. Later in the conspiracy gets killed and son Prabhas takes revenge on Old Balla with help from few sainiks and taaTi cheTlu.
Deva Sena � Most powerful and probably only character where same Tone is maintained throughout. In the process of accept/rejection by female lead (DS), one can observe glimpses of AMBA from bharatam. There she loves someone, but brought forcibly by Bheeshma to get married to his brother. After knowing her affair brother rejects, Bheeshma takes her to Salva, but Salva rejects as well. But she gets what she wants. Same like AMBA she vows to kill Balla and will not budge an inch out of her vow. When it is time to stand by Dharma/Justice, she does not care who she is confronting with. She never budges from her path and even when Sivagami apologizes to her, she is just like OK. DS stands out in the court scene. Throughout the scene, the inspiration of �kuru sabha, vastrapaharaNam� is clearly evident. Only difference is hero comes and does justice in his own way.
Ballaladeva � Tone is maintained to this character throughout. Cruelty, Sadism, cunning etc., well potrayed. The Crudness of director can be seen when he keeps DS as captive to satisfy his EGO and show cruel/sadistic side of him.
Sivagami�s � Most confused character in second part. She being Rajamata and super power (with so much emphasis given to Woman power), treats DS with EGO and tries to humiliate DS at every opportunity (fellow woman). From character perspective she behaves (along with her husband sometimes) like DhrutaraashTra where internally love towards own SON dominates at times over Dharma/Duty. Only solace is realization (again not in well convincing manner).
Bijjala Deva is like SAKUNI with no realization and his only aim is to get the crown by hook or crook either to him or to his son. Here also his position is like DhrutaraashTra who could not get kingdom because of his blindness and had to be given to Pandu. Once PanDu is dead, still his own son is (duryodhana) not qualified to become king, as Elder should get the crown. Here his own son (Balla) is lost on moral/ethical grounds during the war with Kalakeya. So at the end this guy is NOT killed but had to spend rest of his life with jealous now Mahendra BB is the new King but not his own kin/kith.
Kattappa - Inspiration from Bheeshma of Mahabharata. Just be loyal to the person on the simhasanam or to the simhasanam. Only extra thing is he gets abused by the king and his kith to the maximum extent. He also participates in some comic scenes to which we have no clue.
Subbaraju as Kumara Varma is clearly inspired from Uttara Kumara. Even Uttara kumara later becomes a warrior and fights in the war only to die.
Rajamouli � His vision of certain scenes and execution of the same are awesome though it falters at some places especially comedy. The clause of choice given whether DS or Kingdome to HERO not convincing somehow. Not sure what is in director�s mind. The whole interval Scene to elevate HERO is nice and came out well.
Prabhas � Suited perfectly to the role with only drawback of voice/dialogue delivery. Peggesi oka lagaa peggeyyakunda inkola maTlaDaDu anukuntaa. But cannot imagine anyone else in the role and only other guy who may be little close would be Uttutti Roshan. Hats off to pebbi�s dedication and transformation. For generations this movie and he will be remembered. Maa father china tanam lo Patala Bhairavi was such a sensation and that movie played for about 30 years continuously somewhere in telugu land. Similarly, BB will be talked about for decades and so Prabhas.
If you have not watched already go for it. If saw it already second time won�t hurt �� |
