Both of them takes 45 mts each to enter and finalize the tax returns. W2 elago download avutundi, else it takes 5 more minutes ante.

Kalikaalam:

Upfront questionnaire untadi, then it will prompt what software to use with charge,

I use deluxe.

They give deal every year in october/november that I have to pay only 19.95 for my taxes which include state tax, 1040 (fed), mortgage, itemized deductions including donations etc.

You can try both and only file with one of them. No issues. They dont charge until you are e-filing with them

I always fill in both Taxact and Turbotax and file with turbotax. Turbotax is far better than taxact as it will capture so many deductions. Best part is it will download your stock transactions/W2 and you need not enter them manually. There is no human error.

It is expensive compared to other products.

Musicfan:

I am using tax act past 5 years, they are cheaper compared to turbotax

But, someone told that they charge many fees after you finish entering your data like -
(1)Incase of 1040, you got to pay so much
(2)if you want to pay tax through their site; another fee
(3)State tax: another fee...

and goes on..

Thas why I am hesitating to use Taxact.I need to know in advance that how much I am going to pay as their fee for Federal(with schedule A, rental income, Kids education and moving expenses etc..)and 2 states e-filing.

Turbo tax is expensive 54$ or something,

I am using tax act past 5 years, they are cheaper compared to turbotax, returns are exatcly the same from either software. So why pay more?

Which one do you use? Normally, I used to go to a local tax consultant when I was in PA. After moving here, I did not look for anyone yet, so thinking to file on my own. If you are already using a software, please suggest one.
