SPY is at 199.4 and 200 is resistance. If it can close above 200, maybe we have a reprieve of a month or two before the next big leg down. If it fails to breach this resistance, maybe we see another few days of big drops in the coming week or two. Definitely one to watch closely over the next 2 or 3 trading days.

I strongly believe we will end up more than 2000 on S&P for the year. I don't see it making any highs though.

I would be happy to actually see the markets fall a little but I don't see it happening before year end.

there is more oil floating around than actual demand in the short term. This glut is not going to go away until either some production is cut off. that's not happening, most of the producers are in cost cutting mode right now than reducing the production. barring a huge geopolitical incident (read russia, saudi) I don't see how the supply side will get impacted! If there is no big incident, then oil will stay between $40-$60 at least in the next 2 to 3 years. at these levels not all producers can stay positive and weaker players will go bankrupt or taken out by better companies.

It's painful to take the loss on both sides in the short term though. Had I waited until this morning, the loss would have been much less but if I know the day to day direction, I don't need to work :-)



Hmm true annai. It's difficult to predict. But if you paid a little attention to the way markets bottomed early in the day yesterday and rallied up in the afternoon, you could predict for sure that today was going to be an up day (barring external factors).

It's painful to take the loss on both sides in the short term though. Had I waited until this morning, the loss would have been much less but if I know the day to day direction, I don't need to work :-)

it's a bear market rally ani naa gut feel. There is no fundamental support, job picture is not great, China is suffering, oil glut etc. probably I am few days early to exit but am not really regretting. I have some bets on market drop between now and Jan 16, let's see. Now I look like stupid for sure to exit on Monday but hindsight is always 20-20. Indexes are going up but lot of individual stocks are hitting new lows, only few sectors (or few stocks) carrying the rally.

My gut says there is more down side risk than upside potential for the market, so took my lumps and moving on. there is no way for me to time the exact top or bottom. I took single biggest loss today in my investing career.
