Dear OCI/PIO Card holders and other members of the Indian community :
Kindly note the following and share the same with other members of the Indian community.
(i) Government of India has abolished the PIO Card scheme and converted all the PIO Cards issued prior to 9, January 2015 as OCI Cards. Even though, there is no need to change the PIO Card into OCI Card, the currently held PIO cards are treated as OCI Cards with all the facilities entitled to an OCI Card holder, having lifelong validity with no requirement of registering with Foreigners Regional Registration Offices / Foreigners Registration Offices in India if their stay was exceeding 180 days.
(ii) Government of India has also decided to dispense with ‘U’ (Universal) visa sticker on the foreign passport of OCI Card holders with immediate effect and to modify the OCI registration certificate in the form booklet to provide for the endorsement “Visa validity-Lifelong”. However, it is advised that passport containing “U” sticker may be carried with the new passport and OCI registration card, wherever it is possible. Immigration authorities in India have been advised NOT to insist on production of the foreign passport containing the “U” visa sticker and to grant clearance based on production of the OCI Card only.

Anyway maa peddodi PIO card is going to expire next year, so I have to take OCI or visitor visa.

naaku May end lo travel plan undhi...Elder one ki PIO undhi so need to convert that to OCI...not sure how long this will take.
Younger one ki Visa apply cheddam anukuntunna...once come back from india I will apply OCI for her.

ippude mottham process chadivaa...deenemma malli chaanthaadu list pettaadu documents...first u need to fill the form online and then as usual get all documents notarized and send them in post or give them in person...after that they will take around 60-90 days to issue OCI cards...indulo malli its a 2 step process....first apply everything, your paperwork will go to Delhi and OCI card will be printed and will be sent back to US...second step, we need to send original passports of our kids so they match OCI with Passports and they will return back everything to us...Indian consulate tho pani ante naaku ankusam rajaseghar lekka lechipothundi kopam...directions sarigga undav, customer support undadhu, status thelavadhu...narakam saami

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PIO SCHEME:
PIO Card scheme has been withdrawn vide Gazette Notification No.25024/9/2014F.I dated 09 January 2015.
Henceforth, applicants may apply for an OCI card ONLY, as the PIO card scheme is no longer in existence.
CKGS has been directed NOT TO accept any fresh PIO applications.
OCI in lieu of PIO card:
Existing valid PIO cardholders must apply for OCI card under OCI in lieu of PIO card category.
Consular fee for this OCI category is Gratis.
Applicants will be required to pay CKGS service fee, Indian Community Welfare Fund Fee (ICWF) and fee for any other optional services availed.
Initially for a period of 3 months until 17 June, 2015, submission of the application for OCI card in lieu of PIO card will be voluntary.
However, after the initial period of 3 months from 18 June 2015, it will be made mandatory.
We thank you for your patience. As soon as additional information is received from Embassy / Consulates, we shall update on our website. |

already PIO unna vaallu they need to convert their cards to OCI.....please check the process here and apply for OCI's for your kids...if you have travel planned to India after June this year, then u might need a Visa/OCI to go to India
