I am not going to comment on India. As much as cricket is a team game, in ODIs all you need is one player to click and you can win the game. India has a lot of match winners and hopefully can win when it matters most i.e. worldcup. as far SA goes, their record in Australia recently hasn't been great. If NZ and Australia top their pool and SAF is in the top 2 in their pool, they will have to face England or Sri Lanka. This is their best scenario. But if SA is in 3rd or 4th place in their group, they will have to face Aus or NZ and I do not give them a chance against these two considering their current home form. |

and to all others who say SA has a chance or will win, remember this is the team that has never ever won a knockout game in any of the worldcups so far and their recent form in Australia is no great either. They played in Australia recently and lost the series 4-1. Unless they do something very different to what they have done (i.e. not choke), there is no chance that they will get past semis (that is only if they do not face a proper test playing nation i.e not Bangladesh or Zimbabwe).
Being the host nations and on current form, NZ and Australia should make to the semis and may be England. |
