India lo oka company ki pani cheste, they give Gratuity, super annuation and Provident fund.

Typically thats like

PF is 12% of basic salary + Employer contribution of 12%

Gratuity is like one month salary at the time of retiring time total number of years with that company

Super Annuation is like 15% of basic salary times number of years

In IT this will be a sizeable income at the time of retirement which can be easily managed to get monthly pension type.

Ikkada alaa emi undadu kabatti we will need those planning

at my level and above, its 2% per year service. That 2% comprises your base + 50% of bonus; they take 3 best years of last 5 years to calculate the 2%. for example, if you make 100k and have 20 years service you get 40k pension. below my level its 1.5% per year service

My questions(just curious):
(1)How much pension they give you? Certain percentage of you pay or so many years of continuous work??
(2)Do you have compulsory retirement at certain age?

why to opt all money in bonds (typically 1-2%).

That's true. But, if he is scared of putting money in stocks, at least this is the option to save his original investment and get tax benefits and employer's contribution.

guruji, you may need a financial advisor. 401k aithe compnay vaadu icche options maatrame vuntayi invest cheyyataniki. IRA ki transfer chesukunte option ekkuva vuntayi ani vinna. Naa first job lo 401 K lo ekkuva levvu kabatti, nenu anni oke 401k lo pettesesa. BOth my old and new company are with Fidelity.

Also think about roth IRA. you save the tax paid money, but there is no tax on the gains.

mee age group 40+ kabatti (inka retirement ki kaneesam 15 years vundi anukunte) you can still invest agressively 50% of your 401k. I choose the aggresive option, last 4 years aithe every year 10-12% perigindhi. 2020 is an outlier ye roju etu veltundo teleedhu.

typical rule is (100-your age)% stocks lo pettamantaru. migilina money bonds lo pettukovacchu. when the market is giving 7% on an average, why to opt all money in bonds (typically 1-2%).

how do I get old company 401k to the new company?

Roll-over antaaru. You need to call the old 401k company.
Option 1: Assuming it is being managed by Fidelity, you need to call the fidleity and ask them" i want to roll over this amount to a new company. What needs to be done from my side?" ani adagandi.anni vaade chebuthaadu .

Option 2: call your existing company and tell them that you need to move the balance from the previous company. He will guide you the steps to follow for successful roll over.

Old company vaadu new company peru mida(including your your name on the check) check pampisthaadu. Daani ni atlaage new company ki pampaali.

$19,500/-(assuming you are under the age of 50) is the yearly limit by IRS for 2020. .Divide that by number of paychecks. If you are on a monthly pay check, it's 19500/12= $1625 per month.

Percentage defers based on your salary.

No. Miru stock related funds lo pedithe pothaayi. Just govt bonds or cash lo pettukovachu with 1% interest etc. Money is 100% safe irrespective of the market conditions. As Fan1 said in the his post, you are loosing money by not singing up.

How much to contribute?: I do the maximum amount allowed by IRS. $25,000/- this(I think). You dont need to pay tax on that. That means you are saving $8250/- only on federal tax. if your employer contributes about 5,000-, you are saving $13,200(all are hypothetical numbers and may change with your contribution)
