A well-paced match-winning ODI innings: Rabhasa
You might have watched it many times, the pacing of a match-winning one-day innings from Azharuddin to Suresh Raina, and you will watch it again in Rabhasa.
The movie opens to a typical telugu movie opening, an arranged marriage against the will of bride, hero helps her elope.
Hero introduction resembles that of Kondaveeti Simham, pretty good fight with comedy. He looks at his stylish best in this fight. Hope he maintains this physique.
The remaining first half of the movie proceeds at a normal pace with neat comedy between ntr, pranathi and Samantha and good songs including Raakaasi and maar salaam.
The movie tempo suddenly ups in the last 15 minutes before interval (power play). A fight with good emotions, though some people can comment it is overboard with people flying around, but this has become a norm now in telugu movies, and seems to be loved by masses as seen from response in theatre. It is immediately followed by the best mass song “garam garam”, followed by interval.
Post interval, the tempo set in power play is continued, till a surprise entrance of JP, and then the entrance of Brahmi, many twists unfurl, and the stage is well set for a heartfull comedy, and how it is delivered for next 40 minutes! Kudos to all the artists involved, esp.ly ntr, brahmi and taking by Santosh Srinivas.
The song “Atu itu” is well placed, it comes almost after 40 minutes into second half. The final song with all the families is then a treat to eyes, with another signature step.
The movie then turns more emotional, and goes to the final gear, well picturized climax.
Some of the recent movies of Ntr lost the pace and became dull towards the climax, like Osaravelli, Dhammu, RV (and to some extent Brindavanam, where climax fight was not that entertaining), but this is nicely paced, with very good emotions.
Plus:
- Ntr (star hero), Ntr (comedy), Ntr (dances), Ntr (emotions), Ntr (versatile actor), Brahmi (comedian), good character artists
- Crisp screenplay
- Lots of well-timed comedy by the best in job
- Good choreography for almost all the songs. Atu itu, garam garam, dam damare, raakasi stand out in order.
Minus:
- A certificate gifted by censor
- Negative reviews gifted by web reviewers (not sure of the modus operandi, whether it is funded, or pure anti-nandamuri-fanism)
The screen play and editing is crip with many twists all along.
Yes, this is a well-tested commercial formula movie. But so what?
Director successfully moved to next level in his career through this.
Hero time and again proved his skill and entertaining action.
Brahmi time and again proved his comic timing skill and so did numerous other actors in the movie.
Produced raked the much needed profits out of it.
Distributors and exhibitors are set to get good profits.
Most importantly, the audience who watch the movie get the entertainment, that they really throng to theatres for.
Few reviewers time and again exposed their lack of professionalism with anti-nandamuri-fanism showing up.
But what puzzles everyone who watched the movie is why is the movie given A certificate, where as it is a family entertainer, not much violence compared to any Seenu Vaitla movie.
Final word, watch the movie if you are looking for entertainment. |
