Hello Brothers,
Dharma Civilization Foundation (DCF) has undertaken a nation-wide campaign in general and focusing more on the Western part of United States in particular, to raise 3.3 million dollars to establish "Swami Vivekananda Endowed Chair in Hindu Studies" (SV Chair), at the University of Southern California (USC).
This will be the first ever Endowed chair in the field of Hindu Studies
to be established in any US university.
(There are hundreds of Endowed Chairs in Christian studies,
dozens in Jewish and Islamic studies, about 14 chairs in Buddhist studies,
6 chairs in Sikh studies and a couple of centers in Jain studies,
but not yet a single chair in Hindu Studies).
The chair will be named in the glorious memory of Swami Vivekananda,
the pioneering saint philosopher of India, who introduced Indian
spirituality and Eastern wisdom traditions to the West.
IN AMerican Legal System - if any case / law suit on Mis-representing Hinduism has to be defended in the Court only the people who studied hinduism in the University (PhD in Religious studies / scholars / researchers) can represent and argue on behalf of hindus -
for Example:
1) Mis-Representations of Hinduism in California Text boooks (Kali maatha - A blood thirsty goddess , Bhagavadgita - A scripture that goads to war, violence and genocide)
2) Abusing HIndu gods by printing on shoes etc.,
SO, This is to extablish the systematic study of HIndu Dharma, it's interpretation and application through the creation of academic and intellectual infrastructure and institutions.
Thought to spread this endeavor for the future of Indian - American Community, India , Usa and the world at large..
