Shadow:Coming back to the movie, he might not have done a perfect job like Chris Nolan but nevertheless it was brilliant for Indian standards. IMO, no other director in south india could have done this movie, i repeat NO OTHER Dir in south india. Right from titles, every scene and every character is related to the main plot. The scene where Mahesh decides which flight to take by looking at kid's foot steps. When Mahesh tries to chase an imaginary car, the way water splashes only when the bike passes through, flickering the pics to get phone # shows the director's attention to detail and brilliant story telling.

the song yes. not the fight. when u r making an honest attempt, why do u need a lengthy chase and fight to show the hero is delussional? the interval scene didnt have a fight and it was easily the most effective scene in the movie

To me Arya 2 and One shouldn't be failures, they ended up as cult movies liked by a minor segment. Our heros should tap into other markets like tamil and Hindi, so they can recover more money.

Just came back from 1, watched in regal cinemas, the screen and sound system was awesome, definitely enhanced the movie experience.
First and foremost hats off to the producers for making a honest movie, trusting the script and directors ability to translate that script on to silver screen. By honest attempt I meant, they stuck to the thriller genre and didn't do cheap tactics like having a separate comedy thread with a few comedians that has no relevance to the movie plot. Production values were really good, they trusted Sukumar and pumped in money and every frame was rich, again there were no extravagant sets or silly graphics.
After reading many negative and a few postive reviews, I knew before watching the movie that I was going to like it, it was just a question of how much?
I know Sukumar would cast his spell, I was among the very few who liked Aarya 2. IMO, the top 3 directors of in TFI are RM, 3vik and Sukumar but not necessarily in this order. Each one of them has their own style, pros and cons. RM's strength has always been adrenaline pumping action scenes and a master at playing to the galleries but his movies are totally predictable. 3vik's strength is comedy with witty dialogs and stylish making. His movies are also predictable other than occasional twists. Sukumar's strength is screen play and his scenes are very hard to predict, keeps surprising with twists and turns but sometimes he gets carried away doing that. Sukumar's scenes are probably more original than the other two. That's why I'd rate him better.
Coming back to the movie, he might not have done a perfect job like Chris Nolan but nevertheless it was brilliant for Indian standards. IMO, no other director in south india could have done this movie, i repeat NO OTHER Dir in south india. Right from titles, every scene and every character is related to the main plot. The scene where Mahesh decides which flight to take by looking at kid's foot steps. When Mahesh tries to chase an imaginary car, the way water splashes only when the bike passes through, flickering the pics to get phone # shows the director's attention to detail and brilliant story telling.
Mahesh should be commended for experimenting and trusting the script without regular commercial elements. He looked athletic and was a perfect choice for the lead role. He excelled in comedy in Khaleja and dhookudu, in this movie he acted well as a guy with delusions, was able to show his pain through eyes. He is improving with every movie and in arguably the best actor in new generation, just watch the last 15 mins of 1, you know what I am talking about. This movie is one of the best in Mahesh's career if not The best.
Kirti was gorgeous, she got decent air time and did justice to her role.
Photography was amazing, every frame was well shot. kudos to Ratnavelu.
Background music by DSP was very good, so far his successful background scores were loud like GS. This movie is an exception, its more like hollywood style and elevated the scenes well. I just loved the theme music.
Bottom line, probably the closest to hollywood movie that we can expect from TFI.
When I was walking out, I realized that most of the people didn't like the movie. The comments were like, there was no entertainment, no comedy blah blah..to me..it's like expecting a masala dosa in a sushi place. This is a thriller genre for gods sake..unfortunately, most of the desis are used to buffets, they want to have everything in a movie..ala run of the mill shit that TFI churn's out day in day out. This movie might not be a money spinner but will be a landmark in mahesh and sukumar's careers.
