ok for people who doesn't know what is dowry harassment law a 498a section:
it just needs a small police "complaint" to screw one big family to the extent that the family would lose one generation.
complaint evari meedaina, entha mandi meedina without substancial proofs ivvochhu...lekka prakaram counselling jaragali kaani mana corrupted police system lo immediate arrests(sometime on sat evening or early mornings as early as 4am) jarugutaayi...and police can arrest anybody who is related to the husband...its a big bracket...husband parents, sisters and their husbands, brothers and their wifes and any relatives...
ee cases charitra lo record was an "8yr old kid" was arrested and kept behind the bars.
and then people who anticipate such an arrest should avoid arrest otherwise a regular bail would be given after spending 2-3nights in "central jail"..
these cases apparently run for around 4-5yrs and the conviction rate is 2%...
but the husbands family have to go thru the mental harassment for around 5yrs...its hell. |

BANGALORE: A techie committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his PG accommodation in Shantiniketan Layout, off Old Airport Road on Tuesday, allegedly due to harassment by his wife and mother-in-law.
Manoj Kumar, 36, employee of an IT major, has left behind a note saying he is taking the extreme step unable to bear the harassment from his wife and mother-in-law. A resident of RT Nagar, Manoj Kumar married a woman who is also a techie, two-and-a-half years ago. The couple has a one-year-old son.
Manoj Kumar's brother, Jitendra Kumar, has told the police that Manoj was repeatedly threatened by his wife and mother-in-law that they would lodge a dowry harassment case against him. The threats had forced Manoj to move out of his home and live alone at the PG accomodation.
HAL police have registered a case against the mother-daughter duo under Section 306 of IPC for abetment to suicide and are further investigating the case. |
