Ek Tha Tiger has taken opening box office collections to a new high as it has collected 31-32 crore nett as per early estimates. Its a 40% jump from the previous record which was 22 crore nett approx set by Agneepath earlier this year.
Ek Tha Tiger has shattered records all over by recording capacity or near capacity houses all over on the widest release ever.
Mumbai will come in over 10 crore for the first time. CP Berar, Rajasthan and Nizam have all crossed the 1.50 crore barrier for the first time, it was only last year that these circuits crossed the 1 crore mark for opening day with Bodyguard. Mysore may also make it to the 1.50 crore mark.

Ek Tha Tiger recorded miraculous collections in Gurgaon smashing past records bu an unimaginable 50%. The is centre domintaed by high grossing premium multiplexes. The top ten all time first day collections in Gurgaon are as follows.

watched it in bangalore tribhuvan....firsthalf dead slow,second half just ok...below avg to avg fare...openings never seen for any hindi cinema...huge overflow at tribhuvan....only saw these openings in majestic area for some kannada and telugu stars...never ever for a hindi cinema in majectic area |

On the whole, EK THA TIGER is a high-octane thriller that works big time. This one has style and substance, both, besides dazzling action, stunning international locales and stylish execution. Most importantly, it has Salman Khan, the trump card of this enterprise. There's no denying that Salman's charisma has resulted in a mind-blowing, astounding, never-seen-before start at the ticket window, but the film's content will sustain it thereafter. The film has long legs to prolong its splendid run. This is, without doubt, Salman's best. Sure shot Blockbuster! |

So here's the good news. Ek Tha Tiger demolishes this mindset with such unhurried relish it will take me one more viewing to believe it's actually happening.
While exceptional in this regard, ETT isn't always brimming with bright logic. It has its share of loopholes, convenient bending and tweaking of a hazy script packed with diplomatic protocol inaccuracies, which dumps characters and introduces new ones at its whim and will. But that is a compromise you're willing to make for a film that doesn't test your nerves or provoke Salman's shirt to tear up like a Hulk cartoon.

Wait a minute. Did I say action? That's my favourite part. It's precisely what the romance fails to be -- snappy, snazzy, and substantial. Especially the Katrina bits, the Kat roars. Salman is expectedly familiar/splendid with/at the drill and lends the Tiger every possible wow factor (of course, he drops his shirt) but it's his leading lady's nimble accomplishments that took me by surprise. Wish there was more of it, especially towards the midpoint.
Having said that, Ek Tha Tiger has a lot going for it with its two certified stars no one will contract an eyesore looking at and a supporting cast (Ranvir Shorey [ Images ], Girish Karnad) that never lets you down along with plush production values typical to a Yash Raj product.
And while I was hoping to find a lot more to whistle, I cannot thank Kabir Khan enough to get rid of the Dhinka Chika phase.

India is in safe hands with RAW spies like Tiger (Salman Khan) who chase, beat and gun down enemies of the state no matter which foreign country they are in. Forever on the move, Tiger’s latest assignment is to observe the movements of a certain Trinity College scientist in the UK. Accustomed to using his fists for getting information, our desi 007 finds it a bit difficult to get close to this aloof scientist.
But there’s the professor’s beautiful housekeeper Zoya (Katrina Kaif) who can help Tiger. In the guise of a writer, Tiger prances around with Zoya and ends up falling for her; just as his colleague Gopi (Ranvir Shorey) had warned him not to.
Story mein twist? Zoya is an ISI agent who is also assigned to keep a tab on the scientist. After a bit of running around the bush (and the globe), Zoya and Tiger decide to leave their government agencies and spend their lives together.
Considering that both of them work for their government’s secret intelligence agencies (and that too of India and Pakistan), this is not going to be a cakewalk. But can they even trust one another? |

Ek Tha Tiger opened this morning across India and there are no words to describe the opening. It is simply tearing to shreds all opening records at every centre in India.
In the last few years there has been record breaking films like Three Idiots, Dabangg, Bodyguard and Agneepath but with all these films there have always been centres or circuits that are not record breaking but this is not the case with Ek Tha Tiger, every centre and every circuit is on a record breaking spree.
Its just not new records being set but the margins they are being set by, its impossible to put a number on its opening day business this early but it is sure to smash the opening day record figure by a distance.
