Except TTD everything is beaten down...ippudu reasonable valuations unnayi...now see if any of them is gaining better than average spending from clients (advertisers). TTD was also down 40% from the peak before it got a little bit of boost from stock split.

TD BANK quote on AcuityAds: "We believe that its recently launched (October 2020) illumin platform has industry-leading capabilities in the programmatic advertising sector, which should lead to either significant organic revenue growth for several years, or a takeover by a larger media or technology company looking to buy vs. build similar customer- friendly ad buying capabilities... Big Revenue Growth Expected..."

A win-win.... we either grow organically [=lots of money for years to come] OR it goes up much more and then gets bought out at a premium [= lots of money in short term]. Either way, we win as shareholders if you buy and hold this stock.

========================================================================

TD BANK Report BUY Recommendation

Bright Future in a Growing Market Event: We are initiating coverage of AcuityAds (AT-T) with a BUY rating and $37.00 target price. AcuityAds operates a programmatic marketing platform powered by proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technology. The platform operates in the AdTech industry, and enables programmatic advertising. See our full initiation of coverage report that will be published later today.

TD Investment Conclusion

With valuations of 26x 2021E gross profit (this is comparable to a P/Sales multiple for most comps, and we will call this a net revenue multiple for AT) and 83x EV/ EBITDA, this is clearly not an inexpensive stock, and it is also arguably a small player in a big space that is ultimately dominated by Google, Facebook, and Amazon. However, we believe that its recently launched (October 2020) illumin platform has industry-leading capabilities in the programmatic advertising sector, which should lead to either significant organic revenue growth for several years, or a takeover by a larger media or technology company looking to buy vs. build similar customer- friendly ad buying capabilities.

Valuation Remains Reasonable vs. Peers: Looking back to February 2020 (before the pandemic), we struggle to understand why AT shares traded at only 1.4x 2020E net revenue when the main independent comp in the AdTech space, The Trade Desk (TTD), was valued at 14.7x 2020E revenue. We believe that AT is still attractively valued vs. peers. TTD is now valued at 35x 2021E revenue (Exhibit 4 shows AdTech and SaaS comps), which is still a 36% premium to AT.

Big Revenue Growth Expected...: Partly fuelled by easy comps (pandemic driven) and structural tailwinds, we expect strong revenue growth of 24% in 2021. Then, as illumin gains more awareness among marketers, and as a larger percentage of advertising budgets shift to programmatic buys via demand side platforms (DSPs), especially via connected TVs or CTV (Exhibit 1), we project a revenue CAGR of 19% for Acuity over the 2022-2023 timeframe (annual forecast highlights are in Exhibit 2).

Roku (ROKU -1%) is streaming modestly lower today despite a strong Q4 earnings report last night. Expectations were certainly running high after the company's huge beat in Q3, although we had some concerns there was some pull forward to Q2-Q3 at the expense of Q4 due to the boom in streaming behavior during the pandemic. However, that turned out to be a non-issue.

The quarter's numbers were pretty amazing. Analysts had been expecting a slight loss in Q4, but Roku posted sizable profit at $0.49/sh. Similarly, Roku achieved good Q4 revenue upside, and its Q1 revenue guidance was well ahead of analysts' expectations.
Despite our concerns of a pull forward, Roku accelerated its new account growth by +5.2 mln in Q4 vs +2.9 mln in Q3. Granted, the holiday period tends to be seasonally strong, but the pull-forward dynamic hit Netflix (NFLX) in late 2020, so we thought Roku might follow suit. We tip our caps to Roku.
Roku's scale has expanded considerably over the last several years. To put it in perspective, Roku's US active account base is more than twice the size of the video subscribers of the largest cable company in the US. Also, a third of all American homes are now non-pay TV households.
In addition to increasing its subscribers count, Roku is also seeing growing engagement with its platform, with 2020 streaming hours up 20.9 bln yr/yr and up 55% yr/yr in Q4. Also, monetized video ad impressions were up over 100% in Q4, rebounding to pre-COVID growth levels. This deeper engagement also shows in Roku's ARPU, which rose 24% yr/yr to $28.76.
Looking ahead, Roku sounds bullish on 2021. However, some variability is expected. In 1H21, yr/yr growth should be huge when Roku laps the early impacts from COVID-19 and the resulting economic lockdown. However, Roku will be lapping much tougher comparison in 2H21 due to its record performance in 2H20.

Finally, as we said in our preview, Roku is not as clean-cut a streaming story as Netflix or Disney+. Unlike NFLX and Disney+, which stream ad-free and have high recurring revenues, Roku's Platform segment gets a big chunk of its revenue from digital advertising, which tends to be volatile. Relative to streamers that have less need to navigate advertisers' budgets, Roku is impacted more directly when macro conditions lead to reduced advertising spending, as occurred across verticals like retail and travel during 2020. The good news is that digital ad spending is robust right now. Another indication of this was the huge report from The Trade Desk (TTD) last night.

In terms of why Roku is not trading higher, the stock has doubled in four months following the HBO Max and Peacock deals. The stock looks like it needs a bit of a breather.

The Trade Desk is finding plenty of bids after delivering another blowout quarterly report (905.03 +58.53)

It seems fitting that both The Trade Desk (TTD) and Roku (ROKU) reported 4Q20 earnings after the close yesterday since the companies are capitalizing on the same powerful secular trend. Namely, marketers are increasingly pouring more advertising dollars into connected TV (CTV) channels as streaming services explode in popularity. As anticipated, this migration towards CTV facilitated blowout results once again for both companies.

During the quarter, CTV revenue surged by over 100% for TTD. As an agnostic provider of programmatic ad buying, TTD is ideally positioned to benefit from rising subscriber counts across multiple streaming services, including ROKU, Disney+ (DIS), and Amazon Prime (AMZN).

Furthermore, TTD is appealing to marketers who are looking to steer away from platforms that rely on sometimes controversial user-generated content, like Twitter (TWTR) or Facebook (FB). This approach was vividly illustrated in Pinterest's (PINS) remarkable Q4 report from February 4. PINS' platform is generally seen as "safer" for advertisers since most people use it for specific reasons, such as finding a recipe or looking for project ideas.

It's also important to note that TTD doesn't just simply purchase ads. Rather, the company has also invested in and expanded its data analysis capabilities, allowing it to provide measurement tools that improve the effectiveness of targeted advertising. These capabilities, combined with its strong position across the open internet, is enabling TTD to capture market share from seemingly bulletproof tech giants like FB and Google (GOOG).

The only real question heading into TTD's report was whether it would be strong enough to avoid a sell-the-news reaction. Since TTD last reported earnings on November 5, shares have rocketed higher by 40%. In turn, its valuation became even pricier with a forward P/S of ~38x.

After an initial knee-jerk reaction lower during after hours trading yesterday, bulls wrestled control away and the stock has resumed its familiar upward track. There was some doubt whether TTD's 1Q21 guidance, which calls for revenue growth to slip to 35% from 48% in Q4, would be strong enough to spark a rally following the stock's meteoric rise. However, investors seem to be betting that TTD is taking a conservative approach to its outlook, while reining in mounting expectations.

The main takeaway is that the story for TTD remains the same. As consumers continue to flock to streaming services, marketers are following their lead and are tapping TTD to help reach them. The main risk is that the stock is priced for perfection and that even a modest downgrade to TTD's growth prospects would likely hit the stock hard. At the moment, though, there are clear skies ahead since the CTV transition is only in the early innings.

Good one!, I think it is a known issue and also a good opportunity for new businesses to address it.

When I studied the illumin product from ACUIF - I thought they were addressing it

I read a research paper which said most of the companies use atleast half dozen brokers like TTD.

Because each one caters to different needs/audience. PUBM is low end guys

That is the reason for many companies play here. It is not like winner takes it all.

one key difference between ad platforms from Google, Facebook and Amazon and TTD in this space is...Google, Facebook and Amazon etc own the supply...so their business will be lot more solid...advertisers always have to use them. For a company like TTD they can move away if they see a better alternative

12/28/2020 What happened TTD 832.62 (-99.15)
Shares of The Trade Desk (NASDAQ:TTD) took a hit on Monday, falling as much as 10.9%. As of 3:15 p.m. EST, however, the stock was down only 8.6%.

While there didn't seem to be any specific news related to the ad tech company on Monday, the stock's sharp drop can likely be explained by a sell-off in the broader market for many growth stocks.

MGNI - 31.04 (-4.49%)(-1.46)
PUBM - 28.21 (-7.33%) (-2.23)

Pubmatic - PUBM
TA - A decent head n shoulder pattern pushed it up. Volume is weak. Experiencing resistance at $27. If volume doesn’t pick up it might drop back to $25 and then $23. If volume comes in, we might see $29
FA - Price to Sales is pretty high, decent Quick Ratio (ability to cover short term liabilities), gross margins are cool at 69%, decent average volume, mkt cap is above a $1 Billion, revenue is increasing, +ve net income

Some points to note
SG&A went up
Cost of Revenue went up
Share count went up
Lock period expiry can result in downward pressure
CEO sold $9 mil worth of shares
Cash on hand $55 mil, they may go for another round of capital raise
Auto and retail are their largest customer segments
74% of their customers are $50 mil or less
They have 1.4% of the online ad market share. Potential for growth, but compete with big players

Could someone comment on their technology and edge over their competitors
