If you take 529 and save money for kids education then that should give a minimum savings.




But you don't get any federal tax concession. Right? Unless you are a kind of experienced investor, I don't think this will help a lot on tax point of view except tax exemption from some of the state sponsored ones. Only thing is, you are saving some money at least to get some financial discipline. I am not in favor of 529 plan. States got restrictions on the use of the funds within the state universities etc.
