I think Mapple Leaf Entertainment did not want to pay luxury tax at any cost...Masai had to give up a 1st round pick(lottery protected) and 2nd round pick to send out Demarre Carrol...now they don't have a starting forward. Terrific GMing by Sean Marks....never easy to win a trade against Masai. Sean Marks showing all the typical Spurs groomed GM traits. Nets pushed 3 teams deep into luxury tax now and there is a cap space crunch in the league...they will also get a share of luxury taxes paid by all teams. Now Nets have a bunch of picks recouped over the last 2 years and have drafted well...they also have one of best young talents in league in D'Angello Russel...I think their future is suddenly looking better than a lot of teams in the East. |
