OM this something conflicting to what that guy is saying. Initially if left only green, the opposite lane is red, So he cannot have time to hit if he starts on red. Even if he was lucky to get to green while he is approaching the signal, he would have slowed down as he will be seeing red all the way and speed up by the time he is near signal, and by that time your wife would have crossed the signal.. any way, thats not yielding by any means, ask your wife to tell that she is on green left only turning to red, when the opposite lane was red So that guy jumped the signal..
