The Power of Mahesh Fans : Indian Express Controversy Sridhar Sattiraju Despite running mixed reviews, “Brahmotsavam” continues to make waves on the social media. The latest news about the film is the single-handed manner in which Superstar Mahesh Babu fans rallied behind the Star when a reporter in The Indian Express carried an insulting story that carried all the gags and silly trolls about the movie “Brahmotsavam” today. Some of the most distasteful jokes that carried references from other films of other stars like Pawan Kalyan and Prabhas were made spoof of which brought a huge backlash among the fans. The article primarily covered the various trolls on the social media about the movie “Brahmotsavam” and showed Mahesh and his fans in poor light while showing rival heroes and their fans on a higher pedestal which further aggravated the reactions on social media during the day. Usually reserved and restrained, the fans of Mahesh Babu erupted into action but on a controlled leash by visiting the office of the Indian Express during the day and demanding action in the form of an apology. The article reflected poor taste of the paper and the reporter in rousing ugly sentiments as it shows as if fans of other stars have instigated the trolls against MB and his die-hard fans by talking ill about the movie. You can see the quality of the trolls from the picture of the article which we don’t even want to comment about as it is very hurting for any hero to read such a malicious article disguised as a report. Finally, the twitter hashtag #welovemahesh was trended by fans, #welovemahesh won hands-down over Indian Express. The paper suspended the reporter who wrote the article in an immature way and withdrew the article from the website while offering to tender an unconditional apology for hurting the sentiments of the Superstar and his loyal fans who were one of the most-disciplined and spirited fans who support Mahesh and his father the original Superstar Krishna. Mahesh and his fans have proved that it is not easy to take him on with cheap negative stunts and silly articles which seek to disturb the harmony of fans as well as the relationships between the ruling stars of Tollywood. While the twitter became hyperactive after the reactions to the Indian Express article started during the day today, the hashtag of #welovemahesh became the trend-setting for a while and now #superfans is trending. It is expected that Superstar Mahesh is also expected to thank the fans for their overwhelming and restrained response even as fans will confirm the written apology from the Indian Express tomorrow. As the movie dialogue from “Pokiri” says, “Eppudu Vachcham kaadu annayya question, Bullet digindaa Leda ?”. This applies to all the bravado and coordinated strength shown by Mahesh Babu fans.
