Human life in whole creation only has previlege to add sins and punya, In other places you will be burning either punya if in swarga and papam if in naraka lokam. Human birth is only the place to get liberated. Other places one cannot. Out of 82 crores of different lifes only Human birth has capacity to think, get realized and liberated. Why do we need to get liberated? Whats the purpose, is that we will need to break the chain of birth/rebirth that is possible only in Human birth. Karma the action has a result. good or bad, Each one will be added to the account. Our account gets updated with every action we do. Read Garuda Puranam and Kathopanishad for effect of each karma, birth/rebirth concepts. theist/atheist is just something one's belief. Some says God is there, some says no. Whatever it is its belief.
