sure. One thing though the key here is to do roth conversion immediately on the next day otherwise you will end up paying capital gains on the gains

for eg: $5500 deposit today
if you convert tomorrow, assuming there are no gains then there are no taxes
if you procrastinate and convert 1 year later and the amount appreciates to $6000 then you have to pay capital gains for $500 after conversion.
