Having trained generations of IITians and many engineering students, well-known educationist Chukka Ramaiah made an interesting comment regarding a few changes he hoped the Telangana government would make in the education system and recruitment.

According to him, only students who pass out of government schools must be recruited into government jobs.

His logic is that students from such school are better equipped to deal with social issues as they are socially aware and are more socially responsible than students who go to private schools.

Now, this has created a flutter among educationists and a debate has kicked off as to whether such ideas are suitable for implementation as it means discriminating against one section of students based on a particular notion and that which is not scientifically proven.

Meanwhile, Ramaiah also wondered as what exactly the Telangana government’s ‘KG to PG’ free education idea meant.

He said it would be nice if anyone bothered to explain him about the scheme.
