Modi replaced the Planning commission with Niti ayog. so this org is credible as indian govt. (they get all the data from state govts and collectorates). I also believe they do enough audits before they publish the data. there are many awards like scotch and some media houses provide. but you know for sure some govts are hiring them for media management officially. so their credibility goes there.
