all your assumptions are wrong. on average it's not colder than NE of US. Calgary gets something called chinook winds (google it). for example this week we are in +6C to +8C range. most of the time you don't see snow on ground here. of course occasionally it gets too cold for a week or two. we don't get long cold winters like Edmonton for example. and we are an hour to hour and half away from world's best ski hills. if you develop ski/anowboard interest, there is no limit to fun
