Andhravodu:

And numbers speak for themselves. Indeed

If you are asking is Saaho overall flop? The answer is Yes.

If you are asking language wise:

Saaho is HIT in Hindi language & FLOP in other languages.

For overall, Let’s see how:

Money Spent:

Saaho Budget + Promotion: 370 Crores.

Money Recovery:

Satellite + Music + Digital: At MOST 150 crores for all languages.

Theatrical Revenue: 290 crores Nett all India, all languages (Looking at current trend)

Now you will say, the movie is already a hit as 150+290= 440 crores. Noops. Thats not how movie business in India works.

In India, if a film is made of suppose 50 crores, it has to earn more than 100 crore to even break-even(recover money). Why? Because more than 50% of all earnings goes to Exhibitors(Theatre owners) + Distributors. The leftover money comes to producers.

Hence the 290 crore of Nett all Language India business figure is actually 120 crores in real terms(rest money went to others).

Hence total collections: 150+120= 270 crores, which is less than production budget 370 crores.

Hence, Saaho is a flop.

(P.S. The 150 crore figure(of Digital+Satellite+Music) for a disliked film like Saaho is too much. Mostly it would be much lesser)

Btw, if you are asking language wise:

Saaho is HIT in Hindi language & FLOP in other languages. Interestingly 65% of the total earning of this Telugu film has come from Hindi markets.

But sadly, earnings in Hindi language are not big enough to recover humongous production cost of film. It needed support from other languages business aswell.

The numbers I have talked about are Nett Collections. Some people would tell you Gross figures that are highly inflated.

Gross collections= Net collections + Tax that govt collects

In media, Gross is used to boost image about your film… that your film has collected so much money..in reality it's Nett thats real…rest all goes to govt as taxes.

So be smart when someone uses these terms next time & try to trick you by saying some film is a 'hit' bcoz it's gross collections are too much.
