Because eventually, you get used to change Without britishers, there is no India as of today. It was 100s of Kingdoms. Current EU teesuko, there's 30+ countries and so many different languages. Which may sound revolutionary, until you realize... it's basically India broken down into different countries End of the day, English won over other languages, and we are under it's umbrella.
