Musicfan:it all depends upon where your last passport was issued. If it was issued in India, then there is no guarantee on time line. If your passport is issued in one of US consulate, then its a week to 2 week max. But if in India, the last issuing passport office has to give clearance, and that depends upon how soon they can give. Then only your next passport will be issued.
COnsulate told me that police report is good for 10 years, since mine was issued from Houston 10 years ago and from India 20 years ago, my police report is expired (Validity is only 10 years). So, mine will take time. That's what he told me.
