Esther case solve ayinattundhi....

Over 50 days after the badly decomposed body of 23-year-old Esther Anuhya, a techie from Hyderabad, was found on the Eastern Express Highway, the Mumbai police have arrested a man they believe sexually assaulted and murdered her.

Police sources said the suspect, who is seen in CCTV footage escorting Esther out of Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, was arrested from Nashik and has confessed to the crime. Though his identity is yet to be revealed, sources said the suspect is 37-yearold resident of Nashik with a criminal background. The suspect, sources said, arrived at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and was drunk when he came across Esther by chance while she was standing near the waiting room of LTT after arriving from Hyderabad on January 5. He reportedly gained her confidence by promising to get her an autorickshaw and took her to the Eastern Expressway, where he attempted to sexually assault her.

When she resisted, he strangled her to death, the sources sai, before returning to Nashik. "The CCTV footage helped us a lot. As he used to frequent LTT and had talked to some railway employees that day, asking for a ride to Kalyan, witnesses and informers opened up slowly and helped us track him down," the source said.

Esther, a software engineer from Hyderabad working with TCS in Mumbai, had returned to Mumbai by train on January 5 by after spending Christmas with her family. Her parents launched a hunt for her a week later and, with the help of the Kanjur Marg police, found her body in some shrubs off the highway on January 16.

Since her valuables were still on her, the possibility of a robbery was excluded. Forensic experts could not ascertain if she was sexually assaulted because her body was badly decomposed.

The Kanjur Marg police, the government railway police and two units of the Mumbai Crime Branch began their investigations when the CCTV footage was discovered. The police initially believed the man in it was a friend of Esther from Hyderabad and even summoned a person from her hometown, but allowed him to go after his culpability could not be established.
