Vijay requests fans to stay calm!
Aug 10, 2013
In an official statement sent by Ilayathalapathy Vijay, the actor asked his fans to stay calm until the film’s release. Following the postponement of Thalaivaa, fans all over the state have been expressing their anger in various ways.

In response to this, Vijay said, “I understand you are all disappointed. I’m also hearing that certain fans of mine are engaging themselves in few unpleasant activities. That is not good for us and I’m requesting you to stay calm and patient”. He also assured that the film would release very soon.

''It's one of the saddest days of my life'', Ilayathalapathy Vijay
Aug 11, 2013
After one of his young fans, named Vishnu Kumar, committed suicide due to the postponement in the release of Thalaivaa, Vijay was left short of words and released a press statement, expressing his sorrow and grief.

Vishnu Kumar was a 20 year old construction worker residing in Thudiyalur, in the outskirts of Coimbatore city. He tried to watch Thalaivaa in Velanthavalam, Kerala, around 30 kms from his place but couldn't get a ticket. He returned home late in the night in a dejected state. He later committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in his room, in the wee hours of Saturday morning, reported police sources.

This is what Vijay had to say in the press release which was made available to the media, soon after news about the boy's suicide started doing the rounds.

"This is one of the saddest days in my life and as a elder brother to my fans, I request and sternly advise my fans to not even think of such acts in future. I don't know how to console Vishnu's parents and family members, for having lost their 20 year old son, who had so many years ahead of him"
