Our Vedas are great literature which were constantly updated in pre-historic to early AD. I wonder why they stopped adding to them later.

they stopped adding hymns and verses to vedas before 8th century bc itself...from then on they started updating other vedic literature- brahmanas, aranyakas etc

reasons: society evolved...from pastorial tribal society based on kinship to proper kingdoms based on differentiation....so religion too evolved...and so religious literature evolved....
