12 hrs ago India is destined to be on the bottom in terms of its share of international tourists. I arrive in Delhi and after the first hurdle of impolite immigration etc I encounter the prepaid taxi counter run by people who want exact change or I loose my change, boarding taxi is a nightmare and most drivers are rude and uncaring, at the hotel check in counter the receptionist asks me if I want a double bed or two singles looking at my male partner, I am constantly harassed in Agra, varanasi by local commission agents, auto drivers or boatmen, I am forced to visit marble shops and silk shops, most silk shops sell synthetic as silk anyway, the tourist police is unhelpful and keep staring at me in indecent manner, I love the country but it is so unclean and unliveable. India needs wholsale changes before it can cash on the beauty it has, its music, dance, food, bazaars, colourful people, monuments to name a few.
