t last, Telugu film industry has some good news to rejoice about. Ace director S S Rajamouli’s blockbuster film “Eega” has won the best regional film award for Telugu at the national awards for 2012, which were announced in Delhi on Monday.

Both Rajamouli and producer K Ranganath Sai would be getting Rs 1 lakh each and Rajat Kamal award for the film under this category.

Besides, “Eega” also won another national award under general category for the Best special effects. Makuta VFX won the “Rajat Kamal” award with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 under the special effects catetgory for this film.

This is for the first time after several years that a Telugu film has won a national award. Despite producing the record number of films every year, not a single film was acknowledged at the national level for several years. So, it is definitely a good news for the Telugu film industry.

As usual, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films dominated the national awards in several aspects. Tamil film “Vishwaroopam” made by Kamal Haasan won awards for best production design and choreography.

'Eega' is produced by Sai Korrapati and presented by Suresh Babu. Rahul Venugopal, Adele Adili and Pete Draper of Makuta Arts have supervised the visual effects of this romantic fantasy entertainer.

This year's list of National Film Awards have been announced. The winners are:

Best Hindi Feature Film: Paan Singh Tomar
Best Actor: Irrfan for Paan Singh Tomar
Best Suppirting Actress: Dolly Ahluwalia for Vicky Donor
Best Supporting Actor: Annu Kapoor for Vicky Donor
Best Playback Singer: Shankar for Bolo Na from Chittagong
Best Song: Bolo Na from Chittagong
Special Mention: Parineeti Chopra for Ishaqzaade
Best Telugu Film: Eega
Best Hindi Film: Filmistan
Best Investigative Film: Inshallah Kashmir
