Srimanthudu is a Telugu drama film which stars Mahesh Babu and Shruti Hassan in the lead roles. The film is directed by Kortala Siva and produced by Y. Naveen and Y. Ravi Shankar. Srimanthudu is scheduled to release on 7 August 2015.

Srimanthudu budget is around 40 crore. The film has been issued U/A certificate from the censor board. The trailer and the music of the film was received very well. So expectations from Srimanthudu are very high.

Let’s move on to the Srimanthudu review to find out if it lives up to the expectations.

Srimanthudu Movie Review:

Srimanthudu revolves around the story of Harsha (Mahesh Babu) who belongs from a billionaire family. But apparently he does not know what to do with his life. His life changes when he met Charuseela (Shruti Hassan) with whom he falls in love. She is a social worker who wants to do something for her village. Harsha adopted her village and started to do the betterment of the residents of that village. But later on he finds that adoption is not just about devolpment, but you have to change the mindset of people too.

The plot of Srimanthudu looks very simple and has been tried a lot before. But yet it looks effective with Mahesh Babu as the lead. The film takes some time to build up. The first half is very good but in the second half, film drags a bit.

Kortala Siva has earlier directed Prabahs starrer Mirchi which was a blockbuster. In Srimanthudu his direction is good as he manages to make narrative good-paced and interesting for the most part. The screenplay, based is commonplace but entertaining in parts. The latter half, when all the action moves to a fictitious village is fast-paced, though drags a bit. Emotions abound the script, but at some times, they fail to touch the heart. Dialogues, are outstanding at places and alright at others.

Devi Sri Parsad’s music is very good and background music adds to the drama. Cinematography could have been better and visual effects are also not perfect.

This film is all about Mahesh Babu. He rules the character from the first frame itself. Any other person being cast for this role would not have made it. Shruti Hassan as Charuseela looks beautiful and does a good job.

Overall Sriamnthudu is a pure delight for all Mahesh Babu’s fans. The movie also delivers a strong message that the elite class should take the initiative of adopting villages and work for the betterment of poor.

♦ Mahesh Babu Class Act
