after a long time I looked into overall performance in my options trading since the start in Q1 2014: Total number of trades: 59 (closed 46, still holding 13) Trades positive: 35, negative 11 in the remaining 13 present holdings, 11 are positive as of today. Average gain for the winners: 53% Average loss for the losers: 68.5% these %ges are based on only closed 46 trades Now the goal going forward is to reduce the loss % on the losers; of course reducing the # of losers itself would be better but you cannot avoid it completely. If I completely wind up options tomorrow, winning % of trades would be 78%. Lessons learned: 1) don't jump in based on others recommendations if your gut is saying NO. 2) if you have strong conviction about some idea then make a big bet. Ignorance is bliss |
