If Drona was alive Pandavas would have never won, he knows many more astra sastras, that his disciples didnt have clue. Moreover Duryodhana made Drona the senapathi with asking him to hand over Bhima alive to him. Arjuna also would never had killed Drona but could have captured him alive.
