Many people say this story, If you are in a jungle and you dont know how to get out of it, you cannot go past without a guide, Without a guide, you might go ulitimately, but you might be constantly roaming around or if you are lucky after so many years you might be successful, But if you have a guide who knows the forest very well, you are sure that you can cross it without any problem. Same with Guru, so one should not ask what they want, all they need to ask is Guru's blessings, and let him drive our lives, if that happens we all are set..
