Ghantasala balaramaiah garu is a legendary film maker and producer who gave life to many film personalities including ANR. Though most of them were not classics ( Balaraju was a benchmark movie for ANR ) he never tasted failure. He is highly regarded film personality in the Telugu film industry for what he did his career.

His son Ghantasala siva kumar was a drummer who worked with many greats. Thaman since he lost his father in early stage(12 or 13 ), he grew up with support of his aunt and worked with most of the music directors like Raj-Koti, Keeravani, and others. Working with manisharma he gained lot of experience. He turned this into profession to support his family.

Everyone who got benifit from Thaman's grandfather or has high regards started working with Thaman directly when he started on his own, knowing his background and struggles.

Being a percussionist and arranger himself, he knows techniques of film music making, his experience with many other music directors gave him enough experience and exposure to become independent. Since such an young age he has all positives on his side and he took every oppurtunity he got from everyone, which is very rare thing happened to any music director. He is widely popular music director in short period but he never could satisfy music critics.

Many get confused he is grandson of Ghantasala the singer. However it is not.

I dont think he learnt traditional music or composing. All he has experience in percussion/arrangements and keyboard which we see predominantly in his music. His music is beat oriented,

People say, he got all the early breaks and stardom when he is not ready, thats the reason why we see monotonous music from his small number of music and when people who dont have taste in music started making films, the music is not extracted from him. If one song is hit, they want similar beats and tunes, so that they are safe.

His works if you see he recycles most his BGM into songs, songs into BGM and songs as another songs with variation or copies from some other sources. All this comes from the short time he has to give output. For Dookudu he was pressurized from Srinu Vytla who in turn was pressurized by movie makers and Babu to complete the film at the earliest. This year within 5 months he delivered 7 movies, that hit his quality very much. We saw this pattern for Chakri, chakravarthy, DSP and many others who worked more movies in short time frame..Right now Thaman is ruling Telugu Film music as there is no alternative to him ( cost and speed wise ) and his rich family background and rhythm oriented music which satisfies fans/youth and kids.

Thats Thaman for you folks... ( GA Style... )
