kind of misconception, back in the days yes, now it fits in one row and probably takes 3-4 rack spaces, I have seen them in the data center, but I have seen the older tape silo which like you said is huge and one silo is close to 2 rooms...I donno about india, kaani inka chaala unnayyi production mainframes...and like u said its rock solid, the last time I heard an mainframe outage was in 2003-2005 when the cable guys accidentally pulled a ficon cable, even then the son of bch didn't go down, but the apps were down due to disk connectivity
