Yes, Palem Srikanth Reddy knows that he is not gonna win the seat. But to reduce majority itself, he is ready to spend 100 crores expecting to get Rajya Sabha seat from TDP on the lines of MV Mysura Reddy and C. Ramachandraiah.

There is an interesting aspect with regards to fielding Palem against Jagan. CBN is very intelligent in this. YSR belongs to ‘koDide Reddy’ sub-caste and Srikanth Reddy belongs to the same sub-caste. CBN tried all the options with Kadapa MP Seat. He tried with a financially sound Kandula Raja Mohan Reddy who came close enough in 1996 election with the help of all Congress leaders (PV, Kotla, Mysoora etc.) and SP Umesh Chandra. In 2004, CBN tried with Veteran leader like Mysura Reddy. Atleast he is fielding candidates cleverly unlike NTR who fielded C.Ramachandraiah in 1991 to loose with 4 lakhs majority. That’s what happens if one gives tickets with out looking at caste equations.

This time, CBN wants to experiment with financially sound koDide Reddy. To analyze the reasons, we need to take a look at the historical results of Kadapa MP seat.

koDide Reddys vs. moTaTi Reddys

Ironically, Kadapa MP seat contest is between koDide and moTaTi sub-castes, though it has more peDakanTi and pOkanaaTi Reddys in the constituency. koDide and moTaTi sub-castes are actually minorities in the count in the whole MP seat. In most of the assembly constituencies other than Pulivendula, the fight is between peDankanTi and pOkanaaTi (Ex: In Kamalapuram, MV Mysura Reddy – peDankaTi & Veerasiva Reddy / Putha Narasimha Reddy are pOkanaaTi; In Proddatur: Varada Rajula Reddy is peDakanTi & Linga Reddy / Dr. MV Ramana Reddy are pOkanaaTi; In Mydukur: Dr. DL Ravindra Reddy is peDakanTi & Raghurami Reddy is pOkanaaTi). But Kadapa MP Seat is always dominated by Pulivendula leaders.

Lingala Mandals’ crucial role:

Nowadays, most of the Reddys are getting married with out looking for the sub-caste. But poorvamu elders used to look for alliances only with in that sub-caste. This koDide Reddy population is there ONLY in Pulivendula constituency (all the Mandals predominantly in Lingala and Simhadripuram (YSR hails from Balapanur village of this Mandal) and VN Palle Mandal of Kamalapuram constituency and Muddanur Mandal of Jammalamadugu constituency. We don’t see this sub-caste in other Mandals. That way, YSR family has strong relations in the chain of villages comprising koDide Reddys in these Mandals. I belong to the same sub-caste, so I clearly observe this in this group of villages. These village level leaders are hard core fans of YSR family. They are praaNamu ivvaDaaniki kooDaa Ready. Similarly Kandula family has strong relations in the groups of villages where moTaTi Reddys are there in parts of Pulivendula constituency and parts of VN Palle Mandal. In 1996 election, Kandula Raja Mohan Reddy was leading on YSR with a margin of 5K till the end. But only the Lingala Mandal (which has huge koDide Reddy population) votes gave solid 10K majority to YSR to finish the narrow victory with 5K margin. Otherwise that would have been a machcha in YSR’s undefeated political life. That’s why YSR family has great affinity to this Mandal. YS Jayamma, before her death told YSR to help that Mandal and not to forget their standing behind their family always. YSR is spending huge amounts on Ethipothala Pathakam to give water to each acre of this Mandal.

VN Palle Mandal – on the lines of Lingala: Delimitation tactics:

YS Raja Reddy got married in U. Rajupalem (Jayamma hails from here) of VN Palle Mandal which is neighboruing village of Tatimakula Palle (native village of Dushyant Reddy and Palem Srikanth Reddy). Lands of these two villages are attached together. YSR family has strong hold in VN Palle Mandal b’coz of old relations as majority of the population is koDide Reddys. In the delimitation, VN Palle should have been added to Pulivendula constituency from Kamalapuram which makes sense based on its proximity. Everybody thought so b’coz YSR has strong hold in this Mandal. But Pulivendula is already strong enough for their family. So YSR intentionally kept this Mandal in Kamalapuram constituency and added Chakrayapet (Idupulapaya comes under this) Mandal to Pulivendula. This is a clever strategy. And he eliminated Yerraguntla (heart of Mysura Reddy) from Kamalapuram constituency which is double the size of other Mandals with 3 cement plants and Rayalaseema Thermal Plant labor force. So this way, YSR modeled Kamalapuram constituency on the lines of Pulivendula. VN Palle can be treated as Lingala of Kamalapuram constituency. They are promoting Dushyant Reddy for the Congress ticket from this Mandal, though there are already two leaders (Veera Siva Reddy – sitting MLA and Putha Narasimha Reddy MLC) fighting for Congress ticket. But Dushyant already established his vargam thru out the constituency with the help of YS Jagan’s direct involvement. Kadapa Mayor Ravi Reddy (YSR’s brother-in-law) is also eying on Kamalapuram ticket as it would be safe for him citing CK Dinne Mandal as his strong hold which was newly added. But Dushyant will get the ticket as he is getting roaring support.

CBN’s strategy:

CBN is experimenting by fielding a financially strong candidate from this VN Palle Mandal with the opinion that it will create ripples in the strong hold villages of YSR by splitting the votes of koDide Reddys. CBN is really shrewd and intelligent should be appreciate for his tactics. But Srikanth can do a partial split as they have relations in the same villages and his father helped lot of people to get jobs in judicial department when he was Hight Court Chief Justice. But now he can no way be compared to Jagan’s status. The people of all other sub-castes of Reddys and all other castes are behind YSR family.

The big –ve for Palem is: they never involved actively in the district. His father settled in Hyderabad long ago and Srikanth has been running a software company. They helped only for the relatives who visit them by getting them jobs in judicial department. Now all of a sudden Srikanth Reddy came back to Kadapa and constructed a temple in his village and distributing computes to the schools in the district in the name of PC Reddy trust. This is not going to work out in Rayalaseema politics. In order to maintain Vargam, you need to be accessible always to the people of your Vargam to look after their problems. Though he is not MLA, Dushyant is calling in SP of Police and resolving the issues of his Vargam. Unless you maintain that, just money won’t bring votes here.

There is a rumor that Kandula Sivanada Reddy also may join Congress. There is a probable alliance between Mayor Ravi Reddy’s son and Raja Mohan Reddy’s daughter. So Srikanth Reddy has to fight with the help of our one and old MV Mysura Reddy. Final verdict will be Palem will loose election miserably. CBN may not give Rajya Sabha seat also as promised b’coz he may not have sufficient seats with his poor performance in MLA seats. Srikanth will pack up and go back to Hyderabad to look after Foresoft. He can’t even withstand as a leader in Kadapa district leaving Rayalaseema aside.
