As far as I am concerned, Federer is the best in the last 15-20 years. If some body argues that he didn't compete with the likes of sampras etc, that is one stupid lame excuse.

Similarly, 2-3 yrs age difference among top tennis players makes lot of difference with their game at that level and the amount of tennis they play consistently. Age difference between Rafael and Federer is close to 5 years. Everybody has their unique way of playing. No doubt, Federer's look most elegant.
There are always great players in any game at any given time. For example ten years ago in the game of basketball, everybody thought no body can be better than Michael jordan. Then comes Kobe Bryant, who is better than MJ at his age. |

It doesn't make any sense whether ur bending upper body or lower body, may be it might make it look little elegant. when u have to cover too much ground like Rafa and rely on ground strokes which is a whole different zone playing then u will be injury prone that way.
one thing i always say its just such a fortunate thing that Roger's starting period of golden era did fall when the likes of Rafter, Sampras, Hewitt, Agassi's are fading out..
Imagine the world where Rafa debuts the same time roger turned pro away from ur world where only Roger looks the all time greatest player.
If ur saying passing shots Agassi and Rafa are always ahead of Roger from my point of view .. |

if some one has weakness, opponents obviously make a feast out of it especially in this electronic era. You are telling as if he won all these grand slam titles by fluke. You can't expect him to play the same way like he used to play until one year ago.
He has his own style and he wins with it. He doesn't bend his upper body and doesn't hit ball that hard. Because of that he doesn't hit deep shots, but where he makes it up is hitting good passing shots. He makes good use of his height and lean body and make sure his back is in good shape. Thats why he is consistent all these years. When one doesn't hit deep shot, especially in singles, opponent will be forced to come forward/ will try to attack by coming forward and most of the time federer hits winning shot to close the rally. |

Federer has some shots in his armory and he is obviously elegant when he plays those shots. Dont tell that he makes the game look simple and dont make tennis small infront of him. that would be so insane.
In my stride i wud say he likes to play some extravagant shots, shots from no where t make the points shorter which in other words u can say taking risk or calculated risk. He can't play longer rallies or longer points. here and there hardly he will produce winners. The more ur engaging him in those plays ur more closer to the finish line than him.
Does anyone have an answer on his forehand which has been horrible for the last one year instead of keep glorifying him based on his year back laurels.. |

I don't have you in mind when I was writing my previous post. These days, more and more players from different countries are playing good tennis, and it is very difficult to achieve what federer did in the coming years for any player. Also, one can give top performance for not more than 4-5 years. My only wish is he should not retire like Matts Vilander. He should go when he is in top form. |

Federer is the most elegant player I have ever seen in Tennis; I don't know whether he is as finesse/elegant player like other star players before Ivan lendl. He makes it look so simple. He is far better elegant player than Pete Sampras etc. It is stupid to say that he is overrated because of some... . You think he is overrated because he makes it look so easy. |

mpls, even the great pistol pete was put down by lot of critics in 2002 and when he lost to some unknown in 1st or 2nd round of wimbledon, but he bounced back and won the US open after I believe almost 2 yrs of not winning a major grandslam...If you think federrer is overrated thats fine but give him some time to come back keeping in mind the 10+ grandslams he won
