He cheated, he lied, and he didn't care about who knew. He made his money off of class action suits and other peoples misfortune so this is nothing new to him. He's just like a bunch of other senators in our government. Lets elect some business men and working people into the congress and see if we can't get something done. I hate Bush and what's really sad is his approval rating is 14% higher then the one for congress. (Bush 29%, Congress 14% according to the Gallup poll.) I just hope everyone gets out and votes instead of a minority of the registared voters. We paid the senators. $165,000.00 each for 143 Days of work. Pretty good pay for people with an approval rating of 14%.Slingo

Why is this only coming to the front page of the network news agencies on August 8th when the National Enquirer reported it on December 31? Doesn't this make anyone else wonder whether the press is only reporting the stories they want to that help their preferred candidates and they ignore the stories that hurt them. The press has gotten too big for their britches. Maybe it's time that we held them to a higher standard, or any standard for that matter. Where else can you become a "professional" without having to attain a certain degree of education or pass an entrance examination or adhere to a code of conduct. Our "Free Press" has long abused their protection under the constitution to the point where they themselves are a threat to a free society.

The personal affairs of Johns Edwards matter so much more than most Dems dare to admit and what a mess he's created for himself.So,what was he planning on doing? Go through the primaries without saying a thing about his affair (which he did) and what if he had won...then what? Does he wait to be taken down after his nomination is made official and send the Democratic Party into a tailspin? Does he go all the way through the election without saying a word and let the scandal hit him while in office?I guess the bigger question is what the heck was he doing running for president in the first place? Is/was he that incredibly stupid to play this game? Was he that willing to allow the scandal to come to light and ruin the Democrat's chances for taking the presidency?And some will say a candidate's private family matters don't matter. Not only do I believe they matter, I think I would judge Edwards slightly more harshly for his actions because he did this to his family during his wife's cancer crisis. I can't think of anything lower...I'm not expecting perfection in a candidate, but come on...is there only one type of person who gets involved in politics? Aren't there any truly good people who want to run for office?And through this scandal, he continues to play politics to salvage what is left of his potential career. He decides to come clean on the day of the Olympics opening ceremony in hopes his story will get lost. And his statement was nothing short of outrageously disgusting....to profess to be 99% truthful is disgusting. He explained he earlier denial of the story by stating the story contained inaccurate information. You either are or are not truthful and Edwards is NOT.If a person does actually have a "private life" then why parade his sick wife around and show the world how he is sticking by her. Had this not been the case, this scandal might be easier to accept.

First its sad that a rag mag like the national enquirer is doing the job of vetting our politicians, which the main stream media should be doing. And second John Edwards needs to reflect on how he slung mud at hillary Clinton during the primaries, ganging up on her along with Obama during the debates. His lack of respect for women is now put in its propper light. thank God he did not endorse Hillary, with friends like that who needs enemies.

John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extra-marital affair with a novice film-maker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.
In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 42-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.
Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter’s baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test.
Edwards said he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby’s birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.
A former campaign aide, Andrew Young, has said he was the father of the child.
According to friends of Hunter, Edwards met her at a New York city bar in 2006. His political action committee later paid her $114,000 to produce campaign website documentaries despite her lack of experience.
Edwards said the affair began during the campaign after she was hired. Hunter traveled with Edwards around the country and to Africa.
Edwards said his wife, Elizabeth, and others in his family became aware of the affair in 2006. |
