Yes, marchi poya VANISREE!! Ade time lo DEEPAK lo anukunta SIMHAGARJANA ochhindi!! SIMHABALUDU antha gaa aadaledu. Also, VETAGADU when I watched we had to go for black tickets in SANGAM and I should say, antha crowd malli yeppudu ye movie ki chudaledu. NTR-SRIDEVI combination lo movie was huge hit!!

One thing to add about Simhabaludu in Venkatesa is
Never before or after they constructed Real Statue of Rao Gopal Rao like in the movie and tied NTR cutout with chains to it.. With all good expectations that movie will become a runaway hit,,ofcourse the fate of the movie was totally diferent unfortunately.

Release day matnee first time in my life - Sardar Paparayudu. Bandaru lo science fair ki ani theesukupoyaru. naa classmate valla mother Q lo velli tickets thecharu. bench class tickets, movie thega enjoy chesamu. aa roju police jananni kottaru (cycle tubes petti)chudandi, first time antha mandini movie theater daggara choodatam, unbelievable experience. control cheyalantha mandi, aa openings aa hadavidi aa rojule veru. |

I still remember the SIMHABALUDU experience! My cousin who is much elder to me was sent to get the tickets on first day MATINEE in VENKATESA theatre in HYD. He went at 9AM to the theatre, finally got the tickets at 11AM for matinee show. We started to theatre and very very heavy rain with roads becoming like pools!! In that whole mess, went to theatre and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. NTR-JAYAPRADA I think, with great item number by ever green JAYAMALINI!!

I echo your thoughts. My experience is very similar to yours with only difference being 1982 was the year I started understanding politics. First movie I remember watching in a theater is "Gundamma Katha". That happened in 1977 on my birthday. Maa pedananna took me for a second show (can you beleive it). We lived in a remote village (3 or 4 kms from hanuman junction) for couple of years as my father and his brother tried farming. Pedananna took me on a cycle to the theater for that movie. It's one of those fond memories I cherish. I still remember how I enjoyed that movie. Since then I watched hundreds of NTR's movies in theaters. For me he was/is THE HERO.
Next greatest experience in my life is that one month agitation in 1984. No one really slept in that one month and my father many times recalled that it was 100 times bigger than Jai Andhra movement.
I don't think we will see another person like him in our life time. |

For any one most memorable days of their life would be childhood and youthful days, thats my opinion. In my case, between 1975-85 were the days when I used to accompy parents, uncles, aunts to Movies in HYDERABAD. And, those were the times NTR was at his peak with YAMAGOLA, ADAVI RAMUDU, DRIVER RAMUDU, VETAGADU, ANURAGA DEVATHA, SARDAR PAPARAYUDU, BOBBILI PULI etc.
Myself, watched VETAGADU in SANGAM theatre, ADAVI RAMUDU in VENKATESA theatre, DRIVER RAMUDU in Sudershan 70MM(??), SIMHA BALUDU in VENKATESA, BOBBILI PULI in SUDERSHAN 35MM etc. NTR WAS MY CHILDHOOD HERO, and always feel very happy to have watched NTR Movies like ADAVI RAMUDU, VETAGADU with HUGE Ecstatic Crowds in their FIRST WEEK of release!!
I used to have some understanding of politics from about 1978 and the first CM I remember was JALAGAM VEGALA RAO!! After I started really understanding what a Village Sarpanch is and all, I used to be confused of one thing!! Why is XXXX Sarpanch of the village for 35 Years!!! This XXXX is not having a very good name but always is Sarpanch with no election(unanimously declared Sarpanch)!! Again all that changed!! And, changed with entry of NTR into political scenario!! After 1983, a lot of changes in political picture (changes were from grass root village level to state level), all after the entry of a person by name N.T. RAMA RAO!!!
Thats why MY HERO was NTR when I was young!!! I cherish all those old days!! May good give many such ARTISTS and POLITICIANS to this state!!
