Second half report from Ongole & Hyderabad
Fans shows in Ongole & Hyderabad, which are started around 6:00 AM are completed. Entire second half is fully action packed with fights and chases. Pawan works as a journalist and comes to Mukesh Rushi�s village on a task, there he meets Meera Chopra daughter of Mukesh Rushi. There he comes to know about one villain gang in the village, who has links with Mukesh Rushi. The brother of main villain wants to marry Meera Chopra with out her wish. Reema Sen plays as a playful girl, who is after Pawan. There are two songs Maro Masthi Maro and the title song Ra Ra Bangaram. Comedy by Venu Madhav & Ali was well received by audience. Story : Srinu (pawan) is a poor guy, who falls in heads-over-heels in love with a rich girl Mallika from his class. The well-to-do mom rejects her daughter’s love while her dad accepts it and promises to unite the two. But, it’s a booby trap laid by the rich man, who drives the hero into jail after winning his trust. How he comes out and unites forms the remaining story.
Artistes : pawan carries the role of an effervescent personality with ease, and his Telangana accent adds to the flavour. He flexes his muscles and dances well in the movie. The Bong babe – is not an asset to the film as she is average in looks and the performance departments. Aishwarya and Rehman were apt as the negative role in this film, while Chalapati Rao was passable as Raima’s grandfather. Suman Shetty, Ali’s comedy track was just .
Technicians : The film was scripted by a.m ratnam, and the first half is just a Cut+Copy+Paste of Nuvvu Nenu, with a change of the boy being the poorer person. There is a buzz in the industry that pawan opted out of Dhana 51, as it had shades of bangaram as major portions of the second half shows the hero in the jail, trying to overcome the legal hassles. The screenplay in the first half is good as it entertains, but the second half is a let down, maybe because of a redundant story. a.m ratnam comical dialogues tickled the funny bone, but the challenging dialogues lacked the fizz as they sounded routine. Music gave good music in the first half, which were also picturized well.
Analysis : The director made the first half entertaining, showing the lighter side of love. The ‘Whistle’ and ‘Avakai’ episodes in the film were good. The entertainment part in the film took a beating with the rich v/s poor angle being introduced in the second half, after which the film turns serious. Being a love story, the director inserted just a single situational song in the second half. The action sequences should give some relief to the front benchers. Even ratnam should move away a bit from his ‘formula’ approach and experiment in the storyline. Let’s see how the young generation and masses receive this action-love story.
