What prompted former Transport Minister S Santosh Reddy to return to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi fold? This question was making rounds in the State Capital on Friday, leading to several speculations.
TRS sources, however, say Santosh Reddy has virtually blackmailed TRS president and Union Labour Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and forced him to take back into the TRS. Santosh Reddy has realized that his splinter group is not able to muster enough support from leaders as well as cadres. On the other hand, his last ditch efforts to come back into the Congress totally boomeranged, as both Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and PCC president K Kesava Rao, whom he desperately tried to contact on Wednesday night. As a last resort, Santosh Reddy has conveyed to the close confidants of KCR that he would disclose some vital information about the latter, if he was not taken back into the TRS.
Sources say Santosh Reddy could lay hands on some important documents that proved KCR’s misappropriation of MP Local Area Development funds in Karimnagar district. On Thursday, he sent a set of photocopies of those documents to KCR’s aides. And that clicked. Since Thursday evening, KCR has been contacting Santosh Reddy and finally, he agreed to unconditionally revoke the expulsion of Santosh Reddy. Not only that he had agreed to give him a prominent place in the party. So, that’s the secret!
