that was the match in which Chetan sharma got his hatrick and sunny scored his only oneday internatinal century

>>>The first Indian captain to return from Pakistan undefeated in a completed series

Ramuji,

If i remember correctly, that was his last series as a captain. He did pretty well as a captain in that series. But he fought with the board on something related to players pay etc and was sacked as a captain (and player???) altogether.
He was later taken back in the WC 91 to pair with Kapil dev as an opener. But they failed to click.

One more incident that i remember is the match just before semi-finals in reliance world cup(1987). Itz against NZ, Sunny scored a century and scored it at a faster rate than Chika (the only time).

>>> Lance Cairns was blasting the Indian bowlers and when 2.X overs were remaining..

Seems like this guy hits 6's at a tremendous ease and better than his son Chris.

the memorable shot from chika is in WC-83 finals against Andy Roberts. bent on his knees and had square driven the ball to the backward point boundary. the commentator says, 'before you could finsih saying ShrikkAnt, the ball is outside the boundary line and all i could see is a flash' :-).

the other memorable moment with Chika in the field was during the WSC trophy in Australia in the semi-final match against NZ. Up until that match India has bowled out all it's opposition teams. Lance Cairns was blasting the Indian bowlers and when 2.X overs were remaining he scooped a catch to backward square leg and chikah dropped it and the ball went for a 4. In the last over again he scooped it and chikah dropped it again and the ball crossed the boundary for a 4. The skipper Sunny moved him to mid wicket and moved LS or Binny to Backward squareleg. This time the ball was scooped again to the midwicket region and Chikah didn't make a mistake. And you should see his face and Sunny's face after he took the catch. Hilarious.

The name of Srikant reminds me of a comment from Imran. 'It is very difficult to bowl to him. When you think that you have delivered an excellent delivery and sure are going to get his wicket, he would whack it to the boundary. When you feel that you bowled a very bad one and he is going to send it for a six or 4, he either defends it or gets out to that ball'. But Akram got his number finally. The first Indian captain to return from Pakistan undefeated in a completed series :-)

Tail-piece

The last shot, of course, is Anirudh’s. He ‘‘likes’’ to watch Brian Lara and Virender Sehwag play, ‘‘but that does not mean I don’t like my father’s batting style.’’

there is a dashing opener that starred in india u-19's victory over england under 19 team in the last two one day matches. His name is Anirudh Srikkanth and the full name is given as Krish Anirudh Srikkant. Looking at his statistics in the last 2 matches (even at the other two matches where he didn't score much :-)) he reminded me of Chika. Here is his profile:

http://usa.cricinfo.com/link_to_database/PLAYERS/I ND/S/SRIKKANTH_KA_06008814/

88 not out in 74 balls with 13 4s and 3 6s in the 4th One day

143 in 113 balls with 18 4s and 5 6s in the 5th and final one day.
