U put forth nice points. I agree that Pseudo Secularism is existant in India (and Congress party is the main culprit) to attract muslim notes. It worked out for sometime for Congress, but people r not fools and hence the emergence of BJP(Hindutva).
But these statements r utter foolish.
He said the police had tortured many people, including devotees, to obtain false statements against the Shankaracharya. About 45 days ago, a Mutt devotee, along with his wife, was illegally detained for three days and the investigating officer forced him to make a confession that the Shankaracharya was involved in the murder. "At that time itself I alerted the Mutt to take the matter to the Human Rights Commission and also take legal steps," he claimed.
Jayalalitha would be the last person to arrest the Kanchi seer. She always looks for an oppurtunity to nail DMK and prove them wrong. But in this case Police placed a strong evidence (Redhills mafia contractor etc) and hence she relented(no other go). |

I am not supporting Jayendra Sarswati , if he is really a guilty in the case.
But ,Does any govt in INDIA has guts to arrest any normal MUSLIM leader, leave aside a celebrity & religious head.
If it is MUSLIM, Christian religious leader NO CHANCE OF SUCH A SITUATION , not even imaginable in our country.
IDHI KEVALAM MNA DESAM LO DOWRBHAGYAM. In no other country on the world MAJORITY people are treated like minorities by all SO CALLED SECULAR PARTIES.

Vinayakar Murali, state coordinator of the Federation of Hindu Organisations, Tamil Nadu, said the arrest was part of a conspiracy to malign the image of the 2,500-year-old Kanchi Mutt.

He also claimed there was an international conspiracy. "Now, Kanchi Shankaracharya is the tallest Hindu leader in India. I very strongly feel hands from across the borders are involved in the conspiracy." |

There was a warrant against Imam Bukhari of Delhi in the Kerala High Court for the last 15 years, but no policeman had arrested him. A Dalit leader in Tamil Nadu had been charge sheeted in two murder cases and there were arrest warrants against him, but the Tamil Nadu police had not yet arrested him, he said. "Why then did they arrest our Shankaracharya at night, and when he was on tour?" he asked.

"Why was the Shankaracharya arrested from Andhra Pradesh, a Congress-ruled state? Why was he arrested at midnight? And why was his arrest made on Diwali day, the most auspicious Hindu festival?"
Togadia alleged that for the past 15 days pressure was being built on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to arrest the seer "as part of Congress conspiracy."

Cho Ramaswamy, political analyst and editor of the political magazine, Thuglaq, is said to be close to the Kanchi Mutt. A few hours after the arrest of the Kanchi Shankaracharya, Cho spoke to Shobha Warrier about the fallout from the controversial turn of events.
What kind of political repercussions will the arrest have on Tamil Nadu politics?
I don't see any political repercussions, though a section of Hindus will be hurt by the arrest.
But I feel the police and the government would not have taken action against him unless they had clinching evidence. I don't think they would have proceeded on mere suspicion or allegations because he is a very important person, representing the sentiments of crores of people.
In any case, I don't see this creating any great political impact.
