I would stay away from any US financial stocks until all the sub-prime skeletons are out of the closet.
what impact would health care and non financial, non retailer based industries have to worry on this. like health care and oil industries do? these are evergreen markets. its good to do research and invest on these sectors now wisely instead of picks published by the so called market watchers. i still see plenty of room for investment in US markets. |

Markets run on only two things: Greed and Fear. Sell when greed overtakes common sense and vice versa. There is a saying "it's a good time to buy when there is blood on streets" (not literally). As per Warren Buffett there are only two simple rules you should always remember/follow when it comes to investing: Rule #1 - Don't lose your capital and Rule #2 - Don't forget rule #1.
Coming to Indian markets (for that matter all the emerging markets), lot of common people got into the day trading in the last few years. Real estate boom helped to some extent. Also FII are another big factor. These markets went too high too fast. There will be a correction but who knows when that would happen? If you want to invest in Indian/emerging markets, better to do it in an ETF (exchange traded fund) that trades on NYSE. That way you are not exposed to one company/country.
If you are longterm investor, then there are some good companies at bargain prices in the US now. They may not be exciting in the short term but if you have 5 to 10 year horizon then you would do well with some of the big caps in the US. The sectors those are going to do well in next decade would be 1)Agriculture 2)Energy 3)Base metals 4)Health care and 5) only select tech companies like CSCO.

in US, health care, defence and aeronatic and technology shares are good. if you can take risk, retail is good to bet on. amazon, target are on the positive side. last week target rating was upgraded to buy. 
some financial bank shares are good if you have long term plans. like black stone, krr, Morgan stanley. |

this is not the time to buy stocks in bse/nse. these so called bulls are rallying based on US, asian market rise. The core investers will sustain fluctuations without any losses. small time or one time investers with hard earned money people are the big time losers if the sensex declines. I made such mistake and paid price for it as I did not have enough options left.
So be careful. |
