CASABLANCA
rick and ilsa's love story under the backdrop of WW2 set in 1941. Humphreys stole the show with his portrayal of rick. Ilsa was decent and the best of the rest award goes to the french police chief.
Some highlights I enjoyed
1 The way Humphrey is so disconcerned about the young womend plight of having to hand the police chief a sexual favor to get exit visas for herself and her husband...and the way bogey takes a U Turn once he sees Ilsa enter the room.
2 the handling of the flasback when bogey reminisces about Paris
3 the climax which was worked on by 6 writers before the one you see was finalized
4 the nuances of all the charecters without it being overbearing
5 the camera work...there is a scene where ricks shadow is used to do the dirty deed without showing him directly
a must see...this onez going to be a welcome addition to my dvd collection |
