aw, if gemeni TV starts making DVDs or atleast let others get DVD rights, we should be able to see most movies on DVDs in less than 6-months after release.
Our producers can't afford to do like Hindi movies with DVD rights because the amount they get for overseas DVD rights is very very less. Lot less than most here talked abt. So, they like to hold the rights for atleast 100+ days for the screening to come to an end. If they don't no one will come forward to buy screening rights.
It's true most will never know whether a DVD is pirated or not. But those who know should atleast avoid paying a penny to watch one. Watch if it's free! That way, we are atleast not contributing to the wellness of pirates! |

U cannot buy DVDs of all the movies.
U will be browsing all the DVD sites when u want to buy something.
Think our telugu producers should follow bollywood guys in releasing DVDs and earn some money thro DVD rights.
Naani released around 10 months back not yet in the market. If it releases after 6 months who cares

aw, it's true common customers will not be able to know if it's original or pirated. But, when one sees it's released by some company in Malaysia, it's almost obvious that it's pirated. Also, if it's original, all popular telugu websites will be selling the DVD even before it gets released to make customers aware of original that is releasing shortly.
I think Mass just completed 100-days. Most producers like to hold the release of DVD for atleast 6-months. If they don't most of us won't care to go to theaters. We'd rather wait to see on DVD.
It is rumored Gemini TV will be making DVDs soon! If that happens we should be able to see several movies on DVDs soon including Arjun and Naani as they own DVD rights for those movies. |

I think Producers need to release the official DVDs early so that customers wont be funding these pirators.
How will a normal customer know that the DVD is official or Pirated. Customer sees based on the quality of the DVD.

These days most pirated dvds and vcds are mostly made from theater prints. The pirates use the positive(theater print)to make digital transfer to tapes to make DVD. In some cases, pirates bribe people in labs to get a copy of digital transfer made for TV commercials which usually is of very low quality! That is why the picture doesn't have sharpness and colors look faded.
When customers buy/rent pirated DVDs, they are only funding these pirates and hurting companies who like to get rights and make high quality DVDs.
