tondaraga ravatam anedi imaginary. piracy has no schedule. it can come on the very next day of release. so even though the original rights holder announces the date it won't do any good.
coming to Sye, I din't say Crown didn't have rights, i said since two parties are claiming rights, one of them have given a great deal.
Pirators objective is not to make a dent into profits of orginal rights holder but to make income for himself.
Of course everyone's objective is to make income, but Pirates have nothing to much loose as they don't have top pay for rights and quality. All they need is a print to make copies. so if we expect original maker to sell for $5, pirates can easily sell their product for much less value and still make money.
coming to immideate steps, tkae control/ keep eye on outlets
1) the biggest market for pirated dvd's is Indian stores, if they can take good action against the outlets, it can easily be controlled.
2) On-line : very few sites sell the dvd's( Telugu), since the original rights holder also supplies dvd's for sale to third party websites, they can be strict with them and can control piracy.
so if these two are controlled and a very good quality product is released by the Original rights holder then it should not be a big problem. Also the price around $8- $12 is not bad initially. It would anyway come down after few months.
business lo ivanni common, they must come up with better methods to stop piracy.

Why people will go for Pirated DVDs??
One is price advantage and another time of release.
If the orginal rights holder releases the DVD early and at an afforable price say $5 who will go and buy pirated DVD.
Pirator cannot make money by selling it for lesser.

manavi yemanna Engilipeesu bommalaa, inital gaa oka price taruvatha inko price yetti ammataaniki.. If they reduce prices like Sye, then pirated would have achieved their purpose, i.e putting dent for the originals. so in my opinion th's not a good approach.

Due to increased volumes ur profits will remain the same. When u sell DVDs for $5.00 volumes will increase just too much and pirators cannot dare to decrease the prices.
$5.00 shouldnt be bad proposition as In India DVDs were sold for aroun Rs 150 to 200.
If the prices remain high aroun 12.99 , u are giving pirators window of oppurtunity for business.
If the pirated DVDs are of very bad quality then u need not worry. Very few will buy DVDs which are of very bad quality
