my cousin got elected as Regional VP from EAST..
He is no where near to other cndidates in terms of money and name...but he has got interest and worked hard to get the position..
I know Prasad Thotakura personally he is very very nice and he has got good name not only in Telugu community but also in other Indian community.. |

Defated candidate's outburst on TANA election...
From the beginning of this election process, confusion of dates for nominations, deadlines for ballots sent, last date for nominations received, and corrected voters list preperation all were changed several times. No guidlines were specifically prepared by TANA higher archay, and inept secretary who was also a candidate for another position, did not act in advance to prepare a final voters list.The chairman of board of trustees was the one came up with specific guidlines, until then the election commission has no understanding of the process.A 27 year old TANA has no standard protocals or firm guidlines ,and leadership has focussed much on attention in andhra news media and political circles.We the serious candidates with belief in true democratic values ,socialwork, and service orientation were kept uninformed.
I have spent time,traveling, meeting people all across America,and Canada beleiving that one man one vote is the true answer for tainted TANA.To my disadvantage, i came to know that you have to be in this incircle of little hooligans in couple of towns.,where they have trained new immigrants who can go arond mail boxses and collect votes with out the knoweldege of real voters.
The following are the factors that affected the outcome:
1.Last minute preparation of finalised voters list.Intentionally delaying this true finalised voters list by secreatary of TANA except to her group, affected the out come for othsr candidates. This is 100% true statement.The secreatary of TANA has given this certified Voters list which was supposed to be a secreat document, only be shared by candidates and election commission,she has given this list to a non tana member to mail HER FLYERS IN ADVANCE OF ALL OF US.I have a PROOF of the person she has recruited.If she says this is not true I WILL RESIGN FROM TANA TODAY.
2.By misterios way my opponents flyers went to the most corrected voters list before iwas given this finalised voters list by the election commission.THe TANA E.C. who were not neutral in this election has to explain, how they allowed some in their positions in E.c. to act in this discriminatory way.SHAME.
3.Counting:The president of Organisations are not supposed to be present at VOTING COUNTING booths.The election commission has violated by allowing .
4.Agents:every candidate by law has the right to send his or her agent to VISUALLY INSPECT THE VOTES OR BALLOTS.Transparency is the key in confidence gaining in democracy.this was violated until i have requested .My representative was denied until she complained to me, her right to see all votes. WHY.
5.TANAS past history:With such a bad history of vote buying, stealing ballots from others mail boxses. creating false voters names ,payinf for voters names, we should have been more prudent thios time.Your media which in USA is we consider as a parallel govrenment should ask all of us under oath:HAVE YOU EVER COMMITED ANY VOTING FRAUD. You will be surprised about these so called leaders whom you guys think are leaders.
6.Andhras and Toilets;There is a saying you may have left the toilet but the smell follows.Some of these educated have never evolved in to next phase of human advancement like most other immigrants, in this beautifull land i kiss every day.MY FREEDOM.
7.Waiting for recount:I have asked TANA president, and commission as my right as a candidate pure like GANDHI:TRUTH IS THE SUPREME LORD.
8.TANA:represents @2% of andhras and after this election it is going to represent only 1.2% of andhras.
9.Discrimination: Since inception, it has a record of alienating good people on the basis of cast, then regions, then family names, gender, and now no REASON.

People who acheived the respective positions in TANA (or for that matter anywhere) is more to their economic status than their caste.
again this is also not true. it also depends on the individuals' interest in these kind of activities. for example take the case of Dr. navaneeta krishna. his brother is far more richer than him as well as more influential. he didn't become the president of TANA.
if you take the case of prasad tOTakUra who got elected, he has done something for the community not only in Dallas but across the country. he had been very helpful for people with visa problems. as far as i know he is not very rich and am sure there are more individuals who are more influential than him in Dallas area.
kOmaTi jayaram son of late kOmaTi bhaskara rao (ex MLA from mailavaram) is more influential in AP than here.
so the bottom line is not just the money and fame, it is the interest of the individuals as well that get them elected. if a person is not interested, nobody can make him to contest the elections. |

Members of the local Telugu organizations are by default members of Tana or ATA.
Our organization is affliated to TANA and $3 of the membership fee is credited as TANA membership dues
please don't generalize. not all of the telugu associations. Our local telugu association is not affiliated to any. If the individuals wanted they have the option to join either TANA or ATA. But they can not use the local organization to make more members join either of these organizations. that is our policy and have been able to stick to it successfully so far. |
